It’s Not Us, It’s You.
In fact, since that playoff win, Bengals fans have suffered through 14 losing seasons, compared to only 3 winning seasons. To go even deeper; since that playoff win in 1990, the Bengals have recorded 124 wins, 218 losses, and 1 tie. OUCH! Did we mention that being a Bengals fan has been painful? (As a Chiefs fan, I can sympathize.)
All of this losing was enough for one fan to throw in the towel. Well, maybe just trade it in for a Terrible Towel instead. Last year, EBay user emilybrett222 had had enough, and was going to do something about it. That something was to sell his fan loyalty on Ebay. Ridiculous, right? Or maybe not. It turns out that there was a market for fan loyalty (take note, Cubs fans) and fans of other teams were interested! Eventually, the winning bid came in at $510.00. The winning team, and emilybrett222’s new team, was the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Which brings us to today. The day after a game that saw the Cincinnati Bengals defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers. But not just any victory; a Bengals that win that propelled them into the playoffs AND eliminated the Steelers from playoff contention. Oh the irony.
Hey, emilybrett222, maybe it’s you, not the Bengals. After all, you are a pretty crappy fan.
Below are screen grabs of the Ebay auction:
A package deal?!?! Now it all comes together. Of course someone would bid on a package deal. And what a great sales pitch, explaining exactly how he watches games. So cool, dude.
Bills, Lions and Bengals not apply? Well played. You know who should have bid? Bills, Lions, and Bengals fans. Exclusively. Just so to keep the worst NFL fan in the world cheering for a losing team.
How Did We Do?
Let’s check out how the Benchwarmers’ Studs, Duds and Sleepers faired in week 16. (Point totals based on standard league scoring format)

Wes Welker – 14 Points (88 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD)
Dennis Pitta – 5 Points (56 Receiving Yards)
Jermaine Gresham – 3 Points (38 Receiving Yards)
Sleepers
Nick Foles – 16 Points (345 Pass Yards, 1 Pass TD, 1 INT, 10 Rush Yards)
Sam Bradford – 13 Points (196 Pass Yards, 2 Pass TDs, 1 INT)
Reggie Bush – 26 Points (65 Rush Yards, 1 Rush TD, 42 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving TDs)
Matt Forte – 14 Points (88 Rush Yards, 1 Rush TD)
Stevan Ridley – 8 Points (84 Rush Yards)
Jeremy Maclin – 17 Points (116 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD)
Justin Blackmon – 13 Points (79 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD)
Reggie Wayne – 14 Points (81 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD)
Jermichael Finley –7 Points (70 Receiving Yards)
Heath Miller – 4 Points (45 Receiving Yards)
Of the 11 Studs, four had exceptional games (15+points), five put up average games (8-14 points), and two disappointed (7 points or less).
Of the 8 Duds, one had an exceptional game, three had average games, and four had disappointing games.
Of the 10 Sleepers, three had exceptional games, five had average games, and three had disappointing performances.
All in all, the Benchwarmers hit 11 predictions on the head, were in the ballpark with 13 projections, and completely whiffed on six.
And what is the big takeaway from week 16? The Seahawks are scary good right now, the Titans are embarassing, the Texans and Patriots are extremely vulnerable, and Peyton Manning deserves to be retroactively named last season’s MVP. Seriously, he’s good.

12 Plays of Christmas: #4
The Benchwarmers are going a tad beyond 2012 to bring you our number 4 play. Almost a year ago to the day, Jerome Simpson scored one of the most acrobatic touchdowns you WILL EVER see. We celebrate week 16 in the NFL by looking back to last years week 16. Sit back and reminisce in the beauty that was this TD.
MKG is a Man-Child
Former UK star, now Charlotte Bobcat, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is the youngest player in the NBA. Taken second overall in the draft by the Bobcats, MKG turned just 19 on September 26th. Young, he is; intimidated he is not. Watch this clip of MKG going all grown man on Denver's Kosta Koufos.
Studs, Duds and Sleepers
Week 16 is here, and the end of the NFL regular season is barreling down the tracks. Hopefully for most of you, your Fantasy Football season is still alive. Which is why the Benchwarmers are here to provide our amateur advice to make sure your championship hopes don’t let slip through the cracks. Here are your can’t miss studs, unexpected duds, and the players being overlook for week 15.
QUARTERBACKS
Studs
Tom Brady, Nothing to see here. All world QB Tom Brady will torch a Jacksonville defense that has absolutely no help from it’s offense.
Peyton Manning, The Cleveland Browns are much improved from last year, but Peyton Manning is as surgical as a QB could be. Manning will identify mismatches, throw a strike, and then celebrate his success with a few Papa John’s Pizzas.
Cam Newton, Newton made the list last week, and he delivered. The Carolina QB will not disappoint this week either; in part because Cam Newton is a gifted athlete playing some good football, the other reason being he faces the Oakland Raiders.
Duds
Eli Manning, Eli has really struggled of late, as have the Ravens’ defense he will face. If I were a betting man, I’d put my money on the Ravens. They were picked apart by last week, by Eli’s older brother no less, and they have something to prove.
Andy Dalton, Dalton has quietly put together a good year, ranking him in the top 10 for QB’s this year. Make not however; Andy Dalton has been owned by the Pittsburgh Steelers. I don’t expect that to change this week IN Pittsburgh.
Sleepers
Nick Foles, The rookie has been up and down since moving into the starting role. This week he will face a Redskins’ defense that held him to 204 yards and forced two interceptions. Since then, Foles has vastly improved; the Redskins, not so much.
Sam Bradford, Cautiously, I advise you to start Sam Bradford. The caution comes in the fact that prior to last week, Bradford had not thrown for 300 yards since week 6 against Miami. We advise you to start Bradford, however, because last week he found a groove and torched the Minnesota Vikings. This week, he has a chance to do the same against the Buccaneers and the worst pass defense in the league.
RUNNING BACKS
Studs
Adrian Peterson, All Day has been running like his hair is on fire, and he is within striking distance of Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record. The Texans will undoubtedly load the box and try to make life miserable for Peterson; but at this point, I’m convinced that AP is a creature from another dimension that simply can not be stopped.
Doug Martin, The Muscle Hampster let us down last week, but we are going to stay strong and keep faith in the rookie. Last week was a complete meltdown by the Bucs; I don’t anticipate that being the case this week. The St. Louis Rams tend to struggle against the run, and Tampa Bay is surely seeing red after last week’s embarrassing loss. Doug Martin, do your thing.
Arian Foster, The Texans are looking to lock up home field advantage for the playoffs, this week, and they will do so by riding their horse. Arian Foster is averaging 23 carries per game, and he is turning those carries into production; just shy of 17 points per game. Arian Foster WILL get touches. Arian Foster WILL produce.
Duds
Ray Rice, The Ravens made news after firing offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, in part because he wasn’t utilizing Ray Rice. Rice’s touches should increase, but don’t’ expect his fantasy numbers to skyrocket. The Giants are a top 10 run defense, and they will be willing to load up on the run and challenge Ravens’ QB Joe Flacco.
Frank Gore, Frank Gore has had a solid season running the football. In week 7, he ran for 131 yards against the Seahawks. This week, San Francisco and Seattle rematch, IN Seattle. The Seahawks have improved against the run, and they love playing at home. And Gore won’t score a fluke fumble recovery TD like last week.
Sleepers
Reggie Bush, Bush has disappointed many owners this year. Aside from his week 2 explosion, he has only scored double digit fantasy points 5 times. This week Bush faces a Bills’ defense that held him to 3 points in week 11. This week they play in Miami, and Bush has gradually seen his workload increase.
Matt Forte, Many expected Forte to be a top 5 RB this year. Injuries and a soft offensive line have hampered that effort. This week will be a good one for the Bears’ RB. Chicago has their backs against the wall, and they are facing a Cardinals’ defense that defends the pass pretty well, but struggles against the run. The Bears’ should lean on Forte early and often.
Stevan Ridley, Last week the Benchwarmers (correctly) told you to bench the New England RB. This week, make sure he is in the line-up. The Patriots face the Jaguars; in other words, this could get ugly. the Patriots will get a lead, and Ridley will get touches as the game winds down.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Studs
Demaryius Thomas, Peyton Manning spreads the wealth pretty well, but Demaryius is his go to guy. The favorable matchup against the Browns will give Thomas a chance to bounce back from his 1 point performance last week.
Andre Johnson, Johnson has been a roller coaster for owners as he has had his share of fantasy peaks and valleys. This week will be a peak. The Vikings are an average team against the pass. The Texans want this one badly so they can begin resting their studs for a playoff push.
Dez Bryant, What can we say? We make mistakes too. Last week we advised you to bench Bryant, and we blew it. Not this week! The Cowboys are rolling, and the Romo-Bryant connection is part of the reason. Make sure you get Dez into your starting lineup this week when he faces the Saints.
Duds
Anquan Boldin, ESPN projects Boldin for 15 points; don’t buy it. The Giants still can rush the passer, and last I checked, Joe Flacco is the one throwing passes to Boldin. The Ravens will lean on Ray Rice and look to stretch the field with Torrey Smith. Don’t expect Boldin to score more than a handful of points.
Wes Welker, Welker is questionable this week, but still expected to play. Welker has slowly slid down Brady’s list of favorite targets, however, so don’t expect much either way. WIth Brandon Lloyd and Aaron Hernandez, Welker is a move the chains guy, not a score a TD guy.
Sleepers
Jeremy Maclin, Nick Foles is improving, and the Eagles are playing one of the worst pass defenses in the Washington Redskins. Maclin didn’t record a catch in the first meeting with the Redskins, so expect him to play with a chip on his shoulder.
Justin Blackmon, The rookie hasn’t done a lot this season, but since week 11, he’s been getting more looks. Henne likes Blackmon and his big play ability. The Jaguars play the Patriots, who surprisingly, have one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. Combined with the likelihood of trailing in the game, there is opportunity for Blackmon. Start him.
Reggie Wayne, Wayne’s solid season has slowed down of late with the emergence of T.Y. Hilton. The Colts play the woeful Chiefs this week, though, and he will get back on track with a solid performance.
TIGHT ENDS
Studs
Jason Witten, The Cowboys air attack has been renewed during their current hot streak. Jason Witten won’t complain, as he is getting plenty of targets. Look for Witten to get a flurry of passes his way as he finds plenty of holes in the Saints’ secondary.
Jimmy Graham, Yup, Graham is good. He’s a freak. And Drew Brees is his QB. Not really anything else to say here. Just be sure you have him in your lineup.
Duds
Dennis Pitta, The Giants have been effective defending opposing tight ends this year, and with Joe Flacco doing the QBing for the Ravens, that will continue. Pitta will get some looks, but there are better options available at TE.
Jermaine Gresham, The Steelers’ defense has been dominant against the Bengals. It can’t be stressed enough how much Andy Dalton struggles against Pittsburgh. Gresham will undoubtedly be impacted by this. Make sure he is warming your bench.
Sleepers
Jermichael Finley, Aaron Rodgers has plenty of weapons out wide, but look for Finley to own the middle today against the Titans. Tennessee is not very good. There, I said it. Aaron Rodgers is really good. I said that too. Put those together and it equals opportunity for Finley. Seize it, Jermichael!
Heath Miller, The Bengals’ D is actually rather formidable, but for whatever reason, TE’s always find room. Heath Miller and Ben Roethlisberger have a way of being on the same page and they will connect this week. Miller should put up a nice stat sheet this afternoon.

Eric Bledsoe Does His Best Blake Griffin Impression
Former UK point guard and future NBA star Eric Bledsoe is usually throwing the alley oops; last night he emphatically finished one off the assist from teammate Chris Paul. Watch as the 6'1" Bledsoe establishes residence in Lob City right next to Blake Griffin.
The dunk put an exclamation point on the victory as the Clippers defeated the Sacramento Kings, 95-83, for their 12th straight win. Bledsoe finished the game with 6 points, 3 rebounds and an assist. For the Kings, former Kentucky Wildcats Demarcus Cousins and Chuck Hayes tallied 9 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assist, respectively. Former UofL star Francisco Garcia also plays for the Kings; however, Garcia did not log any minutes as he remained sidelined with a back injury. Garcia is listed as day-to-day.

The Platinum Standard
Over the last three plus years, Kentucky fans all across the world have become familiar with Calipari-isms. Coach Cal has his favorite phrases, and he takes advantage of every opportunity to share them with the media. Whether it be about his team of players that think they poop ice cream, or telling everyone that he still likes his team, he is never short of entertaining.
One of Cal’s favorite topics is the University of Kentucky being the “Gold Standard” of college basketball; and Calipari means business when says it! Rupp Arena and the Joe Craft center are recognized as great facilities, but that wasn’t enough for Cal’s Cats. Earlier this year, Kentucky fans were shown a tour of the new, $7 million Wildcat Coal Lodge, where the team lives (rather comfortably, might I add).
Today, Cal released a video tour of the new and improved Kentucky Wildcat locker room suite. The Gold Standard? No, UK is moving on up. Let’s call it the Platinum Standard.

Pitino-bowl
As the FIU Panthers set their sights on an upset Wednesday in the KFC Yum! Center, many began to focus on key matchups. While Rick and Richard were undoubtedly eyeing player matchups, those of us on the outside were eyeing the coaching matchup. There was never any doubt that Rick's Cardinals would handle Richard's Panthers, but the uniqueness of the matchup garnered plenty of attention. This meeting marks only the 17th time in division I basketball, father and son would coach against one another. This was no doubt a wonderful occasion, especially within the Pitino family, however, there was also a basketball game played.
What did we learn from the FIU game? Well... not a lot, really. We learned that SVT is healthy again, when there was speculation that he may sit, unless needed. We learned that when defenses give the Cards a ridiculous amount of room, they are very efficient from behind the arc. We learned that Wayne is coming into his own, I know any good game from Wayne makes this Cards fan excited. Last but not least, we learned that Chane has a, much needed, new stroke from the free-throw line. 45% from the free-throw line isn't going to wow anybody, but with only a sampling of 11 attempts, it's hard to imagine the Cardinals would have continued to shoot that poorly.
In all reality, there isn't a lot to be taken from games like these. FIU was playing a risk/reward defense and attempting to remain in the game against the #1 defense in the nation. While it was enjoyable to see a very fast and efficient Cardinals team, I think it may have been even more enjoyable to see a special family moment. Watching the Panthers on defense, it's evident that he learned from his father. I have no doubt that Richard will have a fantastic career. As good as this Louisville team may be, Richard's handprints are all over the roster.
Coming to Commonwealth; Fall of 2013?
Surely you recognize this guy. If not, I’ll help. It’s Sting, the legendary professional wrestler. And if you spend any time at Commonwealth Stadium this fall, keep your eyes open; he may be hanging around. Of course, you’ll more than likely see Steve Borden; which is Sting’s real name. And you’ll probably see him without the face paint (unfortunately). You may even see him jumping up and down and screaming; but it will be as fan, not the entertainer. Why, you ask?
Today, Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops made a splash(see what I did there?) in the recruiting game has he signed a 3 star Junior College TE, Steve Borden Jr. Yes, that Steve Borden Jr., the son of professional wrestler, Sting. What’s even better than signing a football player whose dad is Sting? Steve Borden Jr. shares some of his father’s athleticism.
Checkout Steve Borden Jr.’s profile and highlight video below. Oh, and we don’t recommend any Flare chops if you do happen to encounter Sting, er Steve Borden.

12 Plays of Christmas: #7
The countdown of the 12 best plays of 2012 continues with #7. Let’s be honest, with a name like Munchie, you’re destined to do something awesome. Watch as Cincinnati Bearcat QB Munchie Legaux finds WR Damon Julian in the endzone for the game winning catch against the Virginia Tech Hokies. Great pass. Great catch. And great name, Munchie.

Gorgui Dieng wont play against Kentucky???
Good Thing These Guys Can Ball…
Ever wonder what plethora of talents the youth of the NBA possess? I can name many, such as being strong, fast, quick, agile, etc. etc. etc. And thanks to Panini America, I can confidently say what many of them can not do: draw. Late this summer, at the 2012 Rookie Transition Program, Panini America gave NBA rookies that chance to show of their artistic abilities. Ummmm….Good Effort, Good Job!
Check out what some of UK’s young NBA Superstars created with pen and paper.
We love the UnderKanter (Enes Kanter), but this probably resembles a character from Winnie the Pooh rather than a Wildcat.
MKG wants the world to know that he has a goal; watch out Rio de Janeiro, MKG is coming and he’s going to be wearing the red, white and blue!
While MKG plans on representing the USA in the 2016 Olympics, I think it’s safe to say that a career as an illustrator is not in his future. I’ll give him credit, his Wildcat is more menacing than Enes’, but why is hit being hit over the head with a UK baby rattle?
The winner of the group was clearly Anthony Davis. Leave it to Davis to promote his brand. Of course, I call shenanigans, as it isn’t fair. Davis simply drew what he sees in the mirror on a daily basis.
In all seriousness, we love these guys. And honestly, I couldn't do much better.

Ahead of Schedule
Three short seasons later and the Cardinals jumped off path. Not in the way most would have thought either. Under Coach Charlie Strong, the Cardinals steadied the ship, and looked as if this could be the year to take a step forward and become an 8-9 win team. These Cardinals had more confidence in themselves, and made the 2012-13 campaign just the third 10 win season in a decade.
This season has at times been what we thought it would be. UConn saw the Cardinals struggle to do anything as receivers dropped multiple passes, Syracuse saw a defense that missed made more mistakes than positives, and we continued to see a team let lesser teams control the game. Then we also saw special moments, the magical third quarter against Rutgers, the manhandling of UNC (for 30 minutes) and the ability to overcome adversity throughout the season. I as a UofL fan have decided on one thing: I'm not going to let the national pundits take this season away from me. In the same season these Cardinals leaped into the top-ten, then came crashing back out, the University was accepted into the ACC, and Charlie said "no" to the "big boys". This has truly been a magical season for the University of Louisville and its fan base.
One thing that has seemed to be a constant all year, these Cardinals tend to play to their level of competition. While that is not exactly a recipe for victory, it just may be in New Orleans. We have seen, in spurts, this team's best, and in their best, I'll put my Cardinals up against anybody.
Aftermath of a Tragedy; How Can Athletes Help?
As of late, America has become all to familiar with unthinkable events that keep us grounded as human beings. Whether it be a mall shooting in Oregon, a massacre in Aurora, Colorado, or the most recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. These sadistic events have a way of bringing life to a harsh reality and providing us with a new perspective. The shoes that Titan’s RB Chris Johnson is wearing on Monday Night Football to honor the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School
Sports are generally perceived to be a game; played for fun, the joy of competition. It’s a past time for people all across the world, regardless of race, sex, religion, ethnicity, or any other way you can diversify the human race. However, after the sobering horror that transpired at Sandy Hook Elementary School, sports become obsolete. As a sports fan, it seems secondary to everything, yet it somehow serves as relief from the emotional roller coaster that many of us experienced on December 14th, 2012.
Walking amongst us are the athletes that play the sports we love; the games we watch to step out of the mind boggling reality of last Friday’s events. These athletes are gifted to a level that fans can’t quite imagine, and they are compensated in the same manner. With that, I have a lofty suggestion of these athletes. It’s easy for myself to say this as the average joe, living pay check to pay check, not so secretly jealous of these ultra elite athletes making millions of dollars to play a game. But I make this suggestion for one simple reason; these athletes are on a platform that spans not just this country, but the world. These athletes have the platform and the means to make a difference, as many of them often do.
I want to see athletes step up in a big way to support the victims of the SHES shooting. Particularly, I want to see the NBA, the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets make a difference for the grieving families of Newtown, Connecticut. On Wednesday, December 19th, the Knicks and Nets will square off for the 3rd time this season. Quite honestly, I could care less who wins, as many would agree. But the opportunity to demonstrate generosity at a time of need exists for the two NBA teams that are about 90 minutes from Newton, and here’s how.
It’s a simple idea. It’s financially feasible. Every player donates $1000 for every point they score. Each team donates $1000 points for every point the team scores. And for each point scored in the game, the NBA donates $1000.
Yes, it seems lofty. I get it. but think about it. To players making millions, what is 20k? For a team worth hundreds of millions, what’s a 100k? And for a league worth billions, what’s 200k?
Imagine what over a half a million dollars could do for the small community in Connecticut? It could pay for funerals, afford grieving families time away from work, help repair the school. It could do more than I can list.
Again, this is far-fetched and lofty. But it only took me 15 minutes of my time, so why not give it a shot? So I ask you all to help. Tweet this post. Share it on Facebook. Email it to your friends. Anything you can do, spread the word and let’s see if we can make help a difference.

12 Plays of Christmas: #10
(Benchwarmers’ note; UK loves playing Portland, so it would seem. Three years in a row now, a Kentucky player has put a Portland player on a poster. Take a look below!)
How Did We Do?
Let’s check out how the Benchwarmers’ Studs, Duds and Sleepers faired in week 15. (Point totals based on standard league scoring format)
Studs
Drew Brees - 25 Points (307 Pass Yards, 4 Passing TDs, 11 Rush Yards)
Cam Newton – 17 Points (231 Pass Yards, 2 Passing TDs)

Adrian Peterson – 27 Points (212 Rush Yards, 1 Rush TD)
Doug Martin – 2 Points (16 Rush Yards, 19 Receiving Yards)
Vincent Jackson – 8 Points (81 Receiving Yards)

Jimmy Graham – 6 Points (69 Receiving Yards)
Tony Gonzalez - 10 Points (49 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD)
Duds
Philip Rivers – 8 Points (121 Pass Yards, 1 Pass TD)
Matthew Stafford – 3 Points (246 Pass Yards, 3 INTs)
Frank Gore - 17 Points (83 Rushing Yards, 34 Receiving Yards, 1 FRTD)
Stevan Ridley – 0 Points (23 Rushing Yards, 1 Fumble Lost)
Roddy White – 1 Point (16 Receiving Yards)
Reggie Wayne – 1 Point (14 Receiving Yards)
Dez Bryant – 11 Points (59 receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD)
Jermichael Finley – 6 Points (61 Receiving Yards)
Jason Witten – 10 Points (43 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD)
Sleepers
Mark Sanchez - -1 Point (131 Passing Yards, 1 Pass TD, 4 INTS, 1 Fumble Lost)
Kirk Cousins – 21 Points (329 Passing Yards, 2 Passing TDs, 22 Rushing Yards)
C.J. Spiller – 16 Points (103 Rush Yards, 1 Rush TD)
Ryan Mathews – 2 Points (22 Rush Yards)
Eric Decker – 19 Points (133 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD)
Lance Moore – 10 Points (42 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD)
Josh Gordon – 2 Points (27 Receiving Yards)
Brandon Myers – 1 Point (15 Receiving Yards)
Kyle Rudolph – 2 Points (22 Receiving Yards)
Of the 10 Studs, four put up exceptional games (15+ points), three put up average games (8-14 points), and three disappointed (7 points or less)
Of the 9 Duds, one had an exceptional game, four had average games, and four had disappointing games.
Of the 9 Sleepers, three had exceptional games, one had an average games, and five had disappointing games.
All in all, the Benchwarmers hit eleven predictions on the head, were in the ballpark with eight more, and completely whiffed on nine.
And what is the big takeaway from all of this? The Raiders and Chiefs suck, Frank Gore owners lucked out with his fluke fumble recovery TD, and if you Mark Sanchez is your best option at QB, then don’t start a QB that week.
Check back next Sunday!

12 Plays of Christmas: #11
Holy Hoosiers! What Happened?
The early favorite for college basketball’s game of the year was quite the thriller between the #1 ranked Indiana Hoosiers and the unranked Butler Bulldogs. Indiana was paced by Victor Oladipo and Cody Zellar, each with 18 points. Rotnei Clarke (yes, the former Razorback) led the Bulldogs with 19 points, going 5-11 from beyond the arc.
The Hoosiers and Bulldogs went back and forth for most of the first half, until Indiana was able to go up 7, and eventually take a 4 point margin into halftime. Coming out of the half, Indiana stayed in front of the Bulldogs, eventually stretching their lead to 7 with 8:42 remaining. From there, the fighting Brad Stevens’ came roaring back. Over the next 4 minutes, the Bulldogs put together a 16-2 run, taking a seven point lead of their own, with only 2:32 left in the game.
Indiana refused to back down as the mounted a charge to crawl back into the game and protect their #1 ranking. Freshman guard Yogi Ferrell scored 5 points in the final minute, including a game tying three, to send the game into overtime.
In overtime, it looked as though Indiana would be too much as they took a four point lead. Once again, the Bulldogs dug deep, sparked by a deep three by their sharpshooter, Rotnei Clarke. After a turnover, Chase Stigall followed suit and buried a three to put the Bulldogs up two. Indiana answered with their player of the year candidate, Cody Zellar, who hit a lay up to tie the game.
With 19 seconds left, Brad Stevens called a time out and showed why he is one of the bright young minds in college basketball. Stevens drew up a play for an unlikely hero, walk-on Alex Barlow. Barlow was able to take advantage of his matchup against Jordan Hulls and worked his way into the lane, where he hit the game winning floater with 2.3 seconds on the clock. Indiana’s Jordan Hulls put up one last half court heave that sailed wide left as the buzzer sounded.
Final Score (OT): Butler 88 – Indiana 86

Officials are Part of the Game Too!
Of late, there has been talk of officials trying to be a part of the game and have their time in the spotlight. I think it's safe to say that NBA referee Courtney Kirkland has taken it to a whole new level.
Just leave it up to Teddy
All you have to do is "leave it up to Teddy, right"? With the Louisville Cardinals preparing for their showdown with the Gators from Florida, many have wondered if the Cards even stand a chance with an SEC powerhouse like Florida. With Florida becoming a defensive nightmare for offenses all season, it is clearly seen that Florida has the upper hand in this match-up. BUT WAIT, don't count out the Cards just yet. They have found a way to win this year, and coach Charlie Strong has let Sophomore QB Teddy Bridgewater lead the rest of the young Cardinals. If the Cards can keep it close and find a way to slow down Florida speedster Mike Gillislee and put pressure on QB Jeff Driskel, Teddy might be able to lead the Cardinals to an impressive bowl victory. I'm not much of a betting man but I'll be the first to assume this game will be a lot closer than what all these experts are saying, I mean, all you have to do is leave it up to Teddy, right?
